About George Galt
George Galt’s work has been published in The Globe and Mail, the Toronto Star, Toronto Life, Saturday Night, Queen’s Quarterly, Literary Review of Canada, and many other newspapers and magazines. His poetry has appeared in literary magazines, and in Saturday Night, and was included in Al Purdy’s anthology of young poets, Stormwarning 2.
He is the author of two non-fiction books and one novel, and is the editor of the anthologies The Thinking Heart and The Saturday Night Traveller. In 2022, he founded the literary press Stonehewer Books.
An active volunteer in literary organizations, George helped establish the Woodcock Fund for writers in financial distress and was a founding member of its granting committee. He has served on the Authors’ Committee of The Writers Trust, on the board of the Trust, and as Chair of the Writers Trust. He was also an early member of the board of PEN Canada, and helped establish PEN Canada’s Writers-in-Prison Committee. He has been an ardent supporter of the Al Purdy A-Frame Association since its inception.
